How to Do Sexy & Dramatic Fox Eye Makeup With Pops of Pink & Purple
Today’s tutorial is going to be a fox eye makeup tutorial. I’m going to do a bit more of a colorful look this time, so we’re going to be playing around with some pinks and purples as well.
If you’re looking for a tutorial on how to do a fun, colorful twist on the fox eye makeup trend, let’s get started.
Tools and materials:
- Eyeshadow
- Eyelash curler
- Gel eyeliner
- BB cream
- Blush
- Lipstick
- Setting spray
- Makeup brushes
- (Optional) Q tips
1. Apply a transition shade
I already laid down a base over my eyes and my eyebrows are done so we’re going straight in with a neutral transition shade.
2. Apply eyeshadow to the inner half of the lid
Now take some pinkish colors, put that on the first inner half of the lid, and take it across about halfway.
3. Apply eyeshadow to the second half of the lid
For the second half, use a dark kind of plum purple color and build that up with tapping motions then slowly blend it out.
4. Apply eyeshadow to the bottom inner lid
Take that same pink color you used on the top inner lid and place it on the bottom inner lid.
5. Apply eyeshadow to the bottom outer half lid
Similarly, take the same purple color that you used on the top outer half and use it on the bottom outer half.
6. Apply eyeshadow highlight to the lid
Now use your fingers to put on some eyeshadow highlights. I’m going to be using a kind of green highlight for the center of my lid.
I’m also going to use a champagne pink color for my inner corners.
7. Curl your eyelashes
Next, just give your lashes a little volume.
8. Create the fox eyeliner
Now, apply some eyeliner. Use a gel liner to go into your upper waterline, and then slowly build up the outer wing so you get more of a fox eye.
What is fox eyeliner?
You're aiming for a more slanted almond shape with a sleek, straight tip, rather than a traditional upturned wing. This creates an optical illusion that elongates your eye, rather than a traditional cat-eye wing, which curves up at the end and makes your eyes look wider.
The technique is a great way to lift and pull back hooded eyes or downturned eyes.
Then, go ahead and apply eyeliner to your lower waterline too.
If necessary, use some q-tips to clean up the bottom edges of your eyeliner then throw on some mascara.
9. Apply BB cream
Apply a BB cream to your full face, then go in with a flat dense brush to blend it in without any streaks.
10. Apply blush
Use an angled brush to apply blush to your cheeks. This creates a more chiseled look.
11. Apply lipstick
For your lip, just apply a simple lipstick - the eyes are the star here.
12. Set
Finish off the fox eye makeup with setting spray.
Here’s the finished look!
