If you like wearing your hair in a half-ponytail, but you want to spice things up a bit, I’ve got just what you’re looking for.

Here, I’m going to show you how to take your half-ponytail look to the next level.

Tools and materials:

  • Hair elastics
Tying half pigtails

1. Tie half pigtails

Start by parting your hair down the center.

Then, take two small sections of hair close to your parting and tie pigtails.

Make sure to use the back of a comb to create neat lines where you divide your hair.

Adding third elastic

2. Add third elastic

Join the two pigtails together and tie them with a third elastic about an inch below the first two.

Tying lower ponytail

3. Tie lower ponytail

Keep the section of hair you just tied in front of your face so that it’s out of the way.

Then, take a larger section of hair and tie a ponytail lower down.

Twisting front section

4. Twist front section

Twist the front section of hair as shown.

Passing ponytail through

5. Pass ponytail through

Pass the larger ponytail through the hole you just made.

Braiding

6. Braid hair

Finish off by braiding a small section of hair on each side.

Here is the finished look. I love the elevated lift of the half-ponytail that we’ve achieved by passing the ponytail through a hole.

The two small braids on either side are very subtle yet super cute and the perfect finish to the look.
