It really is possible to keep your manicure looking great for 7 or more days! Follow this tutorial to learn some tips, tricks, and hacks for making your nail polish last longer and keep it from chipping. You probably won’t need anything that you don’t already have in your manicure box.
Tools and materials:
- Base coat
- Top coat
- Nail polish
- Cuticle pusher (optional)
- Rubbing alcohol
- Nail cuticle oil
1. Prepare your nails & apply polish correctly
If you have oily nail beds, start by wiping over them with some rubbing alcohol. It will remove the natural oils, allowing your nail polish to better adhere to your nails. Push back your cuticles using a cuticle pusher.
Apply a base coat to your nails making sure to get it around the tips of your nails as well. Apply your favorite nail polish. Let it dry and apply a top coat.
2. Reapply the top coat
Reapply a topcoat on your nails every two days. This will keep them looking freshly polished!
3. Protect your nails
Always wear gloves when you are washing dishes or doing anything that is rough on your hands or nails.
4. Take care of your cuticles
Apply nail cuticle oil to your nails every single day. It helps protect your manicure and also keeps your cuticles moisturized.

After years of using top coat as a base coat, I finally realized there is a difference. Base coat makes the manicure last longer. When getting your nails done in a salon, watch what they do, and try to do it at home. They generally roughen up your nails so the polish stays put. Be careful not to over do this part.
Yes I will! Definitely great tips!!
