Here's a trick that I use to shorten the length of the strap on one of my favourite purses. This will work great for any handbag that has a strap that is longer than you desire and you would like to temporarily shorten without damaging the bag.

Beginning

Begin with your strap fully extended and straightened so that it does not have any kinks or loops throughout.

First Adjustment

Next, open your bag and ensure that there are not items blocking the underside of your purse flap. Take one side of the strap and lay it along the inside of the flap. You should now have the strap coming out of the same side as the other that has not been moved yet.

Second Adjustment

Next, repeat the same process with the unadjusted strap side. Take the side that has not been move yet and also lay it across the inside of the purse flap. It your purse has clips on the inside that can attach to the shortened handle pieces, then clip them in to secure this modification.

Final Results

In the end you will be left with an easy and completely reversible way to shorten the handles of your bag! This is one of my favourite tricks to use on crossbody bags that I would prefer to wear as a shoulder bag on occasion. If you do not have a way to secure the shorted straps, then be careful when opening your bag if it is not supported as the straps will move when the bag is opened.
