Using a homemade body scrub for stretch marks can fade scars and blemishes. The sugar works by exfoliating the top layer of dead skin cells.

This helps the new skin form and allows any creams or lotions that you use penetrate deeper into the skin to promote healing.

How Often Should I Exfoliate My Stretch Marks?

You should use this homemade body scrub for stretch marks once a week for best results. You can use it twice a week when the blemishes form.

Then follow with a scar and stretch mark cream after rinsing your skin.

Body Scrub For Stretch Marks Ingredients

I formulated this to be the best body scrub for stretch marks and scars by selecting ingredients that promote cellular turnover. The amounts are listed in the recipe card below.

Brown Sugar - I used brown sugar for this homemade body scrub for stretch marks before it’s gentler than white sugar. It has glycolic acid to exfoliate and lighten the skin to reduce the appearance of scars. You can learn more about abrasives for body scrubs in my benefits of salt scrub vs sugar scrub post.

Moringa Oil - Moringa oil is a luxe oil for your skin. It’s full of antioxidants, and it can boost blood flow to the area to promote healing. It’s also a natural anti-inflammatory. I also recommend coconut oil, tamanu oil, or rosehip oil to promote skin regeneration. You can learn more about carrier oils and their benefits to choose the best one for your skin needs.

Vitamin E - Vitamin E oil is said to promote wound healing and repair scars, so it’s often used in a sugar scrub for stretch marks and scars.

Lemon Juice - Lemon juice can help lighten the scars so they aren’t as noticeable. Fresh lemon juice is best, but you can also use bottled lemon juice.

Helichrysum Essential Oil - Helichrysum is one of my favorite essential oils for skin. It’s naturally anti-inflammatory and a powerful antioxidant. It’s said to protect your skin and promote cell regeneration. It is also said to boost circulation and blood flow. Learn more about helichrysum essential oil benefits for skin. Helichrysum is a more expensive oil, but you can buy a blend like Bumps and Boo Boos, which I often use for skin.

Lavender Essential Oil - Lavender essential oil is commonly used for the skin. It’s naturally antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory.

  • Place brown sugar in a small bowl. Add moringa oil, vitamin E oil, and lemon juice. Stir well.
  • Add helichrysum and lavender essential oils. Stir.
  • Gently scrub scars or stretch marks with a circular motion.
  • Let sit for for a few minutes before rinsing.

I have only used this scrub on the body. Since it's made with brown sugar, you could probably use it on your face for acne scars or other scars. If you have any irritation or discomfort at all, then rinse immediately.
