Have you ever tried a real scrub? I don’t mean the cream in a tube with few synthetic molecules here and there. I mean the homemade, real stuff! It is amazing how sugar or salt together with other natural ingredients can hydrate and regenerate your skin in one single use.

What are sugar scrub bars?

While we usually take good care of our faces, we rarely deliver the same care to our bodies. So these sugar scrub bars are similar to a facial for the body.

Made with abrasive crystals, coconut oil, and essential oils, they hydrate and exfoliate our skin body leaving it fresh, moisturized, and brand new.

This procedure enables our largest organ of the body - the skin works more effectively to remove toxins and absorb the nourishment.

How does a sugar scrub bar work?

Our skin regularly produces new cells underneath. The sugar scrub bar goes beyond this surface and removes dead skin to reveal new healthier skin underneath. Rubbing the scrub bar over our body boosts blood circulation and enables lymph nodes to drain.

In addition, this sugar scrub bar with roses cleans, moisturizes, and nourishes the skin to leave a smooth and hydrated feeling.

To properly exfoliate the skin we need to use ingredients with larger particles. As we avoid using any chemicals and want to focus on natural ingredients we have a choice of sugar, salt or nutshells.

Why sugar?

While white sugar is not welcome in our kitchen and we search for healthier alternatives, it still has positive effects on the skin.

Sugar granules are round and therefore less abrasive than salt crystals. They are considered gentle exfoliants with nutritive properties that are suitable for any skin type

How to use this sugar scrub bar?

  1. Wet your skin thoroughly with lukewarm water to prepare it for exfoliation.
  2. Wash yourself to remove dirt and sweat before applying the scrub bar.
  3. Now it’s time to gently and thoroughly rub a ⅕ of the scrub bar into your skin with your fingertips. Don’t use the whole bar as it contains wax and coconut oil to moisturize your skin. If you use the whole bar your skin will be too oily.
  4. Once the scrub is applied all over your body wait a couple of minutes for extra hydration and rinse with lukewarm water afterwards. And you are ready to go. Don’t use shower gel or soap after the scrubbing
  5. Rinse with warm water. No need to use any soap or shower gel after the scrub. Leave it for 5- 10 minutes on your body before rinsing thoroughly for extra hydration.

Sugar scrub bars vs scrub

You might go for simple scrubs in the jar but they separate over time and need to be glopped out with a spoon. So instead of using body scrubs and then washing with the soap, make these sugar scrub bars all in one. They cleanse, exfoliate and soften your skin.

Moreover, they are handy, mess-free and pretty easy to make. All you need is one bowl to mix all supernatural and soothing ingredients like coconut oil, sugar, shea butter, etc.

While Coconut oil makes the skin smooth and helps pull out impurities, shea butter feeds the skin with Vitamin A and E both very beneficial for the skin.

If you prefer to make a soap rather than scrub this soap recipe enhanced with rosehips seed oil and rosehips moisturize and heal your skin from bruises.

First step

In a small heat-resistant bowl melt coconut oil and shea butter with beeswax using a double boiler.

Second step

We are adding beetroot powder rather for its medicinal benefits for the skin than for the colour. Its content of Vitamin C and folic acid helps renew skin cells and increases collagen production.

Third step

Add rose essential oil that supports skin hydration and reduce the sign of ageing. But feel free to add other essential oils as per your liking.

Add rose petals.

Fourth step

Mix it well and slowly add the sugar. Add it in batches, always mix in between so there are no big chunks of sugar.

Stir until well combined.

Fifth step

Pour the mixture into your molds.

Sixth step
