2 Materials

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to style your hair in a bubble braid ponytail. If you’re done with boring hairstyles and are looking for a hairstyle that is a bit extra, this is for you.

Don’t let that scare you, though. This stylish look is super easy to achieve.

Tools and materials:

  • Hair elastics
  • Topsy tail
Tying a ponytail

1. Tie a ponytail

Tie a small half ponytail at the top of your head using a little bit of hair.

Twisting ponytail

2. Twist the ponytail

Part your hair above the ponytail to create a hole. Then twist the ponytail up, put it through the hole, and then bring it down.

Tying more ponytails

3. Tie more ponytails

Repeat this process twice more with two small twisted ponytails beneath the one you just made.

Tying a big ponytail

4. Tie a big ponytail

Now tie all of your hair into a ponytail.

Wrapping the elastic

5. Wrap the elastic

Wrap a piece of hair around the elastic to hide it.

Creating a bubble

6. Create a bubble

Next, use a topsy tail tool to create a bubble in your ponytail, about an inch down from the top of the ponytail.

To use a topsy tail, insert the point of the tool through a hole above where you want the ponytail to be, then flip the hair up through the top of the topsy tail and then simply pull it down.

It will create a twisted look, just like the twists we made at the beginning on the back of the head.

Creating bubbles

7. Repeat

Repeat the previous step and make two more bubbles in your ponytail below the first one.

Pulling hair out

8. Pull out hair

Finish up by gently pulling on the hair from the sections of your ponytail to make it a bit looser.

Here is the finished look, I love the bubbles in the ponytail, and the detail at the top looks really gorgeous as well.
