I love to recycle old worn out crockery as the vintage designs are too good to not preserve. This box of goodies has so many options for jewellery making and special keepsakes.

Box of broken crockery

I use wheeled tile nippers to cut and shape the crockery into a nice shape. I wear eye goggles to protect from the flying china .

Wheeled tile nippers

I decide on making the edges a little smoother using a small hand held sander with a carbide stone. Wearing a face mask is also important to stop dust inhalation.

Sanding

I make sure I sand also the back of the brooch so to create a secure base so that the pin will stay glued firm.

Sanding edges

I then use two part epoxy resin to stick the metal brooch pin to the back of China brooch pin. It’s easy just mix two small equal sized blobs of part a and part b together and spread on pin and china back where just sanded. It dries hard within a few minutes .

Add metal brooch pin

Soon it’s ready to wear proudly. Tweedle Dee and tweedle dum from Alice in wonderland china plate really is a unique brooch !
