How to Create Memory Ware Brooch From Crockery
Seeing so much old vintage pretty crockery laying around doing nothing cluttering up cupboards and some of it so deserves to be seen, loved and used again. I decide to transform some memorable pieces from the past into beautiful brooches.
I love the vintage designs on plates and crockery that are so pretty and decide to draw in my minds eye a circle around the parts I feel will depict a balanced piece.
I use wheeled tile nippers to cut the plate into shapes I can work with and design my brooch.
I love the fruit and patterns from this piece and think it will make lovely pretty jewellery. Shaping and using nibbling action with nippers is easy to round off and then I can use my rotary sanding tool to smooth the edges . Remember to wear goggles to protect eyes.
I make sure I also sand a patch on the back of ceramic in order to help stick the brooch pin.
I use two part epoxy resin glue for jewellery and mix them into a paste and smear over the metal brooch pin and the ceramic back and hold in place centrally.
Soon after a few minutes it’s dry and secure to wear!

Thanks for your comment and I am passionate about making jewellery and up cycling vintage crockery and hopefully have inspired some people to try.
I just might try this it is so cute. I also put a magnet behind a piece that I liked and put it on the frig.
