How to Crop a T-shirt 5 Easy Ways
In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to crop a t-shirt in five ways without cutting it.
Each technique is so easy to do you can’t go wrong. Grab yourself an oversized t-shirt, and let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- T-shirt
- Hair elastic
- String
Knotted at waist
1. Gather the bottom of the t-shirt
For the first crop, grab the bottom of your shirt to gather the material together.
2. Tie knot
Now tie the fabric into a knot.
Here is the finished look. The top is gathered at the waist in a neat knot in the center of the bottom of the top.
Tied up at the front
1. Tie with elastic
The next crop looks like the first, but it's easier if you don't have enough fabric.
Pull your shirt up and grab all the extra fabric in the front. Then tie the elastic around it like a ponytail, but on the last twist, only pull the fabric part way through, making a loop.
2. Tuck tail under
Tuck the tail of the fabric through the loop.
Here is the finished look - very similar to the last but achieved with a different technique.
Tied up at the back
1. Tie with elastic
Fold your shirt underneath in the front while pulling it up to your waist, and gather all the extra fabric in the back.
Tie the elastic around it like a ponytail.
2. Tuck tail under
Tighten the tail and then tuck it up into the shirt.
Here is the finished look. This is a really neat and tidy tuck.
Tucked under
For the next technique, you will need a tight-fitting cropped shirt, a sports bra, or a bandeau top.
1. Tuck t-shirt under top
Put your t-shirt on over the top and then tuck the bottom of it into your undershirt all the way around.
The tight-fitting crop top ensures that the tucked-in t-shirt stays in place.
String tie
1. Tie string around yourself
For the last crop, you will need a string or a ribbon. Wrap the string or ribbon around yourself just above your waist and tie it.
2. Pull t-shirt through
Then pull your shirt up all the way around until the ends are hidden.
