How to Do a Jumbo Low Messy Bun Hairstyle
Today, we're going to be creating a jumbo low messy bun.
It's going to be a very natural-looking and tousled look. It will look like you just ran your fingers through your hair and tossed it up very effortlessly, and the best part about it is that it really is effortless to achieve.
Tools and materials:
- Hair ties
- Hairpins
- Hairspray
1. Texture your hair
Start with your hair in the texture that's going to give you the most amount of volume, for me, that is my natural texture.
If your natural hair isn’t so voluminous, you could use a curling iron, a wand, or a crimper.
2. Part your hair
Part your hair wherever you would like to for the bun.
I’m going to do a center part. (I’m also wearing a tikka headpiece because I’m styling my hair for Eid).
At the back, you want to just split the hair, you don't want to part it as we don't want a perfect parting. Just gently split it.
3. Take out hair at the front
Once your hair is split, take out any hair at the front that you want to fall out of your bun to frame your face.
4. Tie up half your hair
Tie up half of your hair at the center back of your head at the same level as the top of your ear.
If you tie it too low, you won't get that much volume, and if you tie it too high, you won't get the same amount of fullness.
5. Tie up the other half
Then do the same thing to the other side.
6. Wrap the two ponytails
Take ponytail one and ponytail two and loop them around each other.
Put ponytail one over ponytail two and secure the center with a bobby pin.
Then twist the ends into the second ponytail, twist the second ponytail, and loop it under the first ponytail, creating a perfect circle.
Secure with as many pins as you need.
7. Finish the look
Finish by fluffing your hair out, so it looks a little bit fuller and spraying your hairstyle with hairspray to help secure it.
Jumbo low messy bun
This look is so easy to achieve that you don’t even need to look in a mirror when you’re doing it, you can do it all by feel.
If you have a formal or celebratory event to attend and you won’t want to have your hair down, this is a gorgeous updo option. I hope you’ll give it a try!
