In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to make a micro-exfoliating shampoo with sugar.

This sugar hair scrub exfoliates the scalp and removes both dead skin and product build-up.

Tools and materials:

  • Sugar
  • Mild shampoo
Adding sugar

1. Add sugar to a bowl

Add two tablespoons of sugar to a bowl. Sugar is a common ingredient in DIY exfoliants.

It’s natural, easy to get, and its gritty texture makes it easier to get rid of stubborn build-up and dead skin.

Adding shampoo

2. Add shampoo to the bowl

Add one tablespoon of mild shampoo to the bowl.

Since you’ll be scrubbing your scalp, it might be more prone to irritation.

Using a mild shampoo will help reduce any additional, unnecessary irritation.

Mixing

3. Mix

Mix the sugar and shampoo until it’s thoroughly combined into a thin paste.

How to use

Gently massage one teaspoon of the scrub on your damp scalp for a minute to exfoliate, and then rinse it off.
