In this DIY, I’m going to show you how to make a Mother Nature costume for Halloween. What’s that I hear you ask? A Mother Nature costume? Yes, I really am putting together a Mother Nature costume. I don’t want to be like everyone else and dress up as something that other people at the Halloween party be dressed as. I wanted to go for something off the beaten track. Follow along as I show you how to make a Mother Nature costume.

Tools and materials:

  • Beads
  • Floral tape
  • Jewelry wire
  • Fake flowers & leaves
  • All green outfit
  • Fabric glue
  • Green paint
  • Green eyeshadow
  • Shimmer
  • Flower crown
  • Curler
  • Comb
Gluing flowers

1. Glue flowers and leaves onto outfit

First, take your all-green outfit (I’ve gone for an olive-green silk dress) and arrange the flowers and leaves on your clothing in any design. I covered the bottom of my dress with flowers and leaves and put some on the body as well.

Then, use fabric glue or a hot glue gun to attach the leaves and flowers on. Place some paper inside your costume when doing this to ensure that the glue doesn’t stick the fabric together.

Adding beads

Proceed to add beads to the design. Then leave the glue to dry for a few hours.

Making a vine

2. Make a vine

Take the jewelry wire and wrap the floral tape around it a few times to make it look like a stem. For the outfit, you will wrap this around your arm to make it look like you have some vines growing on your arm.

Adding leaves

3. Add leaves to the vine

Then stick some small leaves to the vine.

Applying makeup

4. Makeup

For makeup, you can take it to whatever level you like, depending on if you want to create a more dramatic makeup look or keep it more subtle.

I contoured my face with some green paint and then added some green eyeshadow to my eyes. I then dragged the eyeshadow down to my contouring. I also added some shimmer on the inside of my eyes.

Applying green lip makeup

Then I put the same paint on my lips and added a little bit of shimmer.

Combing hair

5. Hair

Moving onto my hair, I’ll be adding a flower crown that I made. I curled my hair by making a few big curls. I also backcombed and teased my hair a bit to make it look a bit messier.

Adding flowers and leaves to hair

6. Add leaves and flowers to hair

Using the jewelry wire, thread some leaves and flowers through and wrap that around a few curls so it looks like you have some leaves and flowers growing from my hair.

Completed Mother Nature costume

Here we have the final look and I love how the Mother Nature theme is featured all throughout my outfit, from the hair to the makeup to the costume.

The main body of the outfit has lots of beautiful flowers and leaves on it, while still looking cute and feminine at the same time. I feel like a green goddess, and I can’t wait to rock this look on Halloween.
