DIY Upcycled Denim Rain Boot Refashion

My thrifting karma brought me a pair of super comfy but terribly dull rain boots just in time for the arrival of the humid, wet and windy days in Toronto. Thankfully my refashionista stash contained the perfect ingredient to liven up those boring wellies:

Grab my DIY Upcycled Denim Rain Boot Refashion below and whip up some fab, removable, washable embellishments for your galoshes too!

Snag a pair of old jeans, scissors, rubber boots + your trusty glue gun.

Chop the legs off of the jeans. (Make sure to leave enough behind to create a pair of cool summer cut-offs)

Chop the hems off of the jeans (and then save them to make some groovy bangles and rings with my simple tutorials here).

Slice the legs into long strips (mine are about 4cm wide).

Launder the denim strips to quickly achieve those fantastically frayed edges.

Stitch a bunch of the strips together end to end – I used 8 for each of my boot wraps.

Stitch the open ends together to create a huge loop of frayed denim.

Wrap a denim loop around each boot and enjoy your groovy (removable and washable) embellishments!

*if you want your denim to be more permanent simply hot glue the strips to the boots as you're wrapping.
