I want to share an easy fashion hack for Coquette vibes.

I decided to revive my beat-up sambas. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have a worn-down pair of sneakers that could be given a second life with just a few small changes.

Follow these steps to beautify your favorite old sneakers.

Tools and materials:

  • Pink ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Lighter
  • Tweezers or tape
De-lacing sneakers

1. Clean and de-lace

Use a damp cloth to wipe down your shoes and get them as clean as you can. Then take out your beat-up old laces.

Adding ribbon

2. Re-lace with ribbon

Replace your old laces with some pretty pink ribbon.

I started re-lacing with the ribbon by putting some tape around the ends, thinking that would help me get them through the holes, but then I found an easier method.

Adding ribbon

I used a pair of old tweezers to pull the ribbon through the holes, which worked well.

Burning lace

3. Cut and burn

Once you have laced up your shoes, finish the edges of the ribbons so they don’t fray.

Cut the ends on a slant and burn the edges slightly with a lighter. This will prevent the ribbon from coming apart.

I am thrilled with how these came out. They have such a punk ballerina vibe.

Give this a try with your sneakers and leave me a comment to let me know how they come out.
