Try these step-by-step easy hair updos for hot summer days when you need your long hair off your neck. These are great updos when you only have a little time and somewhere to go, and they work well on two- or three-day-old hair, with the addition of a little dry shampoo.
6 Step-by-Step Easy Hair Updos For Over 50 Ladies
Tools and materials:
- Hairbrush
- Wide-tooth comb
- Covered hair elastic
- Twisty hair tie
- Wrap hairband
- Dry shampoo (optional)
1. Half updo
Section off about half of your hair from the top of your head, leaving some to fall around your face.
Check that the part at the front of the section is straight across your head and then simply twist the section into a loose bun on top of your head.
Secure the bun with a covered elastic. Pull the bun a little looser and use bobby pins to tuck in any stray ends.
2. Alternate half updo
Follow the same steps as in Casual Updo but instead of twisting the hair into a bun, simply secure it as a ponytail with the covered elastic. Pull the ponytail out a bit to make a waterfall effect.
3. Ballet updo
Bend over at your waist and gather all your hair together.
Loosen some strands at the front to frame your face. Twist and wrap the ponytail around into a tight bun and secure it with a hair scrunchie.
If you want a messier look, pull sections of the bun to loosen it. You can make this bun as tight or as loose as you like.
4. One-minute messy bun
Like you did with Casual Updo gather all your hair together and loosen some strands at the front to frame your face. Now secure the ponytail with a twisty hair tie, but do not pull it all the way through. Leave a large loop of hair unsecured.
Pull sections of that loop to loosen them.
If you want this to be neater, you can tuck in and pin down the loose ends.
To dress up this style, add a cute scarf or headband and tie it at the back or the side of your head.
5. Side ponytail
Gather your hair into a ponytail at one side near the back of your head and secure it with a twisty hair elastic.
Then take one strand of the ponytail and wrap it around the hair elastic to cover it. Secure the strand in the elastic.
You can also add a hair scarf to this style, either over the hair elastic or on top of your head.
6. One-minute messy side bun
Follow the same steps as with the one-minute messy bun but make the bun at one side near the back of your head.
