One thing that is so important when it comes to dressing with confidence in the summer is comfort! When you feel comfortable (especially in the heat), you'll look fabulous. With this in mind, I'm sharing 10 of my favorite comfy summer dresses, which are casual, lightweight, and make me feel amazing.

Let's get started with the summer dress ideas!

Yellow zebra print summer dress

1. Zebra print

Let’s start off with this voluminous mini dress; it’s a zebra print, but the yellow adds a bit of surprise. I love this style of comfy summer dress because it’s very airy, and the fabric is lightweight. Even the sleeves are a loose balloon-sleeve style.

Black ruffled maxi dress

2. Subtle ruffle

Speaking of airy dresses, if you don’t feel like wearing a mini dress, a loose-fit midi or maxi dress is also a great option for the summer. I love that this one has some ruffles on the neckline and straps to make it a little more whimsical.

Button-down summer dress

3. Button-down

This style is my go-to comfy summer dress—the button-down summer dress. You can find this style in many lengths, but my favorite is a midi-length like this one. Also, this dress has pockets. I always rejoice when I find a dress with pockets - they’re like unicorns!

I also think that this style looks good on so many different body types. As a broad-shouldered gal, I personally love this fit.

Floral summer dress with thigh slits

4. Floral fancy

A floral dress for summer - groundbreaking, right? But there are two things that I love about this dress. One is the cluster of different bright florals that make it a little more unique than a standard floral dress.

Second, you can sneakily show some skin with a double leg slit and an open back. This dress style is also very easy to dress up or dress down.

Casual summer shirt dress

5. Surefire shirt dress

This dress, to me, is the perfect beach dress. It’s a simple, mid-length shirt dress that’s comfy, loose fit, and lightweight. You can also dress it up very easily with accessories. I love it because it’s very airy and breathable, yet you can look so put together in it. I’m obsessed.

Little lime green dress for summer

6. Little lime

This is my little lime green dress. If you want to show off those beautiful legs of yours, this is a great summer option. The stretch fabric is super comfy, even for such a form-fitting dress.

It’s a bodycon mini dress, and you can find dresses like this in lots of different colors and prints. Since it’s also pretty basic, you can easily dress it up or down. I paired it with some strappy nude heels and a matching purse.

Turtleneck bodycon dress for summer

7. Trendy turtleneck

If you don’t want to wear a mini dress, but still want something sexy, you could opt for a bodycon midi or maxi option instead. I paired this with white sneakers for a more casual look. I also love this dress because it has a turtleneck.

Polo dress for summer

8. Fit and flare

Another mini dress option that isn’t too form-fitting is a polo dress. I like how this one is fitted at the top and flares out at the waist, so it has more of a fit-and-flare style. You can also look for an oversized fit or a shift dress version if you want it a little looser.

Pair it with a baseball cap and sneakers for a sporty look. This outfit makes me feel like I’m either about to play golf or head out to a tennis match.

Classic white summer dress

9. Classic white

The classic summer staple, a white dress. I love this one since there are so many cute little details like bowtie straps and ruffles at the hem.

If you’re like me and you’re not a fan of the pure white color (I don’t like it because it makes me look like a ghost), look for colors like off-white, cream, or eggshell.

This dress is also a fit-and flare-style, but you can find white summer dresses in many shapes.

Caftan dress for summer

10. Cool caftan

This is another loose and breezy option - a caftan dress. Most caftan-style dresses have a boxy and loose fit, but what I love about this one is that it comes with a belt that you can tie at your waist.

It’s perfect because you can opt to wear it without a belt for a boxier look, but you can also belt it to cinch and define your waist.

Chic red dress for summer

11. Ravishing red

Last, but certainly not least, is this chic midi dress. It's tight, but not quite as fitted as a bodycon dress. I love wearing bright reds in the summer, and you shouldn’t be afraid to play around with bold prints like this one.

Comfy summer dress ideas

I hope that you got some inspiration for different dresses that you can wear this summer. Go for whatever makes you feel happy and confident, but also don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.
