5 Classic Summer Outfits For When You Have Nothing to Wear

In this tutorial, I'm going to share with you classic summer outfits for when you think you have nothing to wear! We all know the feeling of looking into our closets and thinking, “I have nothing to wear.” It’s not a nice feeling!

I’m going to show you some classic pieces and staples that, no matter what, will always help you out in the summer. Let's create some simple go-to outfits that are easy to put together and look fabulous too.

Blue jeans and a white t-shirt

1. Jeans and tee combo

Jeans and tee are a classic combination that you can never go wrong with. Here, I’ve paired some skinny high-waisted jeans with a white t-shirt. This t-shirt has a little graphic on the front and some frill details on the shoulders to make it look a bit extra, but really any t-shirt would work.

The best thing about jeans with a tee is that you can match the outfit with any type of shoes - sandals, wedges, sneakers - anything works. So your style, your mood for the day, or where you’re going, will determine your footwear.

Here, I’ve gone for a pair of brown sandals that match my belt. I’ve also added a round wicker bag, which is great for the summer and finishes off this easy-peasy outfit.

Gingham dress with sneakers

2. Gingham dress

A dress is so easy to style: once you’ve chosen a dress, 80% of your outfit is already done; all you have to do is add some shoes, accessories, and a bag. Going for a dress saves you having to think about what bottoms to pair with what top.

This gingham print dress is one of my favorite summer dresses. I love how flowy it is on the bottom and the spaghetti strap style on the top. I’ve dressed it down with a pair of white sneakers. To accessorize, I’ve added a black bag with gold chain detail.

Bright green jumpsuit for summer

3. Bright jumpsuit

This next outfit is a jumpsuit, and because it’s a one-piece, you can just pop it on. Just like a dress, the majority of the outfit is already done! This jumpsuit here is great for a dressed-up occasion in the summer. It's a gorgeous lime green color and I love the puffy sleeves.

I’ve added some low heels with a pearl trim around the straps; it adds a nice dressed-up edge without looking like you’re trying too hard. The last piece of the puzzle is a mini pearl bucket bag.

Wide leg jeans and a white crop top

4. Wide-leg wonder

Here, I am styling a pair of wide-leg denim jeans with a simple white crop top. I am a big fan of the wide leg trend. These jeans are in a light wash, and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve worn them over the summer because you can pair them with any cute top, and your outfit is ready to go.

I’ve added a gold chain to accessorize and a pair of sandals with pearl detail and a frill trim. A blue bucket bag adds a little pop of color to the look.

Printed midi skirt and a neutral top

5. Printed skirt

A lightweight flowy skirt is great for the summer because it will keep you comfortable and cool. This one has a nice print to it, so I’ve paired it with a simple top in a neutral color.

I wanted to dress this outfit up, so I added a pair of high-heeled open-toed mules. To finish it off, I added a small little wicker bag for a nice little summery touch.

My top tip is to have some versatile pieces in your wardrobe that you can dress up or dress down, depending on the occasion. Invest in jeans, t-shirts, dresses, jumpsuits, and flowy skirts, and your summer closet will be on point.
