If you're like us you might have had a tropical vacation cancelled as a result of Covid-19 and don't have any real traveling on the horizon. As a result, we recommend creating tiny pieces of vacation wherever you are! Go get a snow cone on a week day! Turn on some ocean sounds to drown out the sounds of your fighting children! And our favorite, add a little bit of tropical cuteness to your wardrobe! With one of our favorite products from Silhouette, Printable Heat Transfer Fabric Vinyl, you can print off any design onto heat transfer vinyl that feels like fabric, iron it on to a shirt and add more fun to any piece in your closet.
Today we're sharing one of our favorite HTV shirt ideas using Silhouette Printable Heat Transfer Fabric to bring the tropics to a plain t-shirt with this DIY HTV flamingo and pom pom project. Get ready to feel those island breezes (Or just go sit in front of a fan for while. Whatever you've gotta do.) Here is what you need:
Supplies Needed:
- Silhouette Printable Heat Transfer, Fabric
- Silhouette CAMEO
- Flamingo Design
- Printer
- Plain T-shirt
- Pom Poms
- Hot Glue Gun + Sticks
- Iron
Step 1. Choose your design and arrange it in Silhouette Studio, adding registration marks for cutting later.
Step 2. Load your vinyl into your printer so that it will print on the fabric side. Send the design to your printer to print.
Step 3. Load your design into your Silhouette Cameo and cut. The Cameo will read the registration marks and cut your design perfectly!
Step 4. Peel your flamingos from their backing and arrange them on your shirt.
Step 5. Using an iron on the cotton setting, press the flamingos onto the shirt until they are completely attached.
Step 6. Glue the pom poms onto the flamingos using a hot glue gun.
That's it! Just wear, enjoy and take a mini vacay.
Aren't they so adorable? We love the color and dimension that the pom poms add and this vinyl feels like part of the shirt. No one is ever going to believe you made it yourself!
Happy Making!

This is so cute! I’d like to make something similar for my granddaughter but is it washable with the Pom poms on it?
Have you washed this shirt yet? How did the hot glue hold up after the wash?
