Hi everyone. Here, we are going to be recreating some viral TikTok heatless curls that I saw. These look super awesome, so let's get started with these TikTok sock curls.

Tools and materials:

  • Socks
  • Flexi rod
  • Shower cap
Rolling hair

To create this technique, all you need to do is take a section of hair and a sock (I’m using ankle socks) and just roll it up towards the top of your head.

There is another technique which is sticking a flexi rod inside of the socks. I’m going to test out both methods.

Without flexi rods

1. Roll hair around the sock

Take a section right at the top of your head, and then just roll your hair up with a sock, making sure you incorporate everything.

2. Secure at the top

To secure the sock at the top of your head, take the opening of the sock and pull it over everything.

With flexi rods

Now we're going to try the method where we put some flexi rods in our sock.

Flexi rods in sock

1. Put flexi rods in sock

Stick two or three flexi rods in your sock.

2. Roll hair around the sock

Apply it in a different section of your hair the same way you applied the sock before.

Wrap your hair around the middle of the sock until you get to the top of your head. Make sure everything is nice and tightly rolled.

Bending the flexi rods

3. Bend the flexi rods

When you reach the top of your hair, bend the flexi rods inwards, and the flexibility of these rods will make them stay in place.

Curling hair

4. Curl the rest of your hair

Continue curling the rest of your hair with the flexi rods in the socks technique.

Socks in hair

5. Sleep with the socks in

Sleep with the socks in overnight.

I highly encourage sleeping with a shower cap over your hair, or you can use an old t-shirt or a microfiber towel.

Sock in hair

It’s the next day, and the top sock is basically coming out.

If I could do this one over, I probably would have put a hair tie over it or just stuck a flexi rod in it.

Socks in hair

The socks with the flexi rods in them did not budge at all. They are still well intact.

I am not a back sleeper, I'm a side sleeper, and these work out great. If you are a back sleeper then you could just do these on the side of your head, and it would work out well.

Removing socks

Take the socks out by unraveling them.

With the socks with the flexi rods in them, you just want to unbend the flexi rods and just roll your hair down.

Running fingers through hair

Run your fingers through your hair.

You can also gently brush your hair if you want to. This is supposed to be a blowout kind of look. We're not going for robe curls.

As far as it being comfortable to sleep in, I would give this style 10 out of 10. In terms of overall appearance, I would rate this style maybe 5.5 out of 10.

The waves do look somewhat nice, but they aren’t so uniform. This could be because I used two different sock-rolling techniques in my hair.

But I think that this style is definitely worth trying out for yourself to see what you make of it.

You can experiment with different thicknesses of flexi rods to see how that will impact the final result.

Brava! You did a great step by step demo. I usually get waves/curls with the “hair wrapped around soft headband” method. It’s becoming too curly for a 60yr old, who has as much grey as auburn. Think I’ll be able to achieve nice waves with my socks and your tutaledge. Also, I hairspray before to have it hold longer or spray a mist of water. Peace be with you and yours.
