In this tutorial, I’m going to show you an easy upcycle you can do with any thrifted top you find.

We’re going to be cutting the top up and sewing it together again to transform it into a unique piece. Let’s get started!

Tools and materials:

  • Vest
  • Wooden bangle
  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread
Cutting top

1. Crop the top

First, cut the top widthways to crop it.

2. Cut down the middle

Now, cut the top down the middle, just on the top layer.

3. Sew bangle on

Place the bangle on the front of the top, fold the fabric over it, and sew it into place.

I used a white thread to create a contrasting look, but you can go for a thread in the same color as your top if you want.

Here is the finished look!

I love the cropped effect as well as the circular hole in the middle, which creates a really powerful visual effect, intensified by the contrasting thread.

The wooden bangle gives this top a boho feel, and I can’t wait to wear it throughout the summer.
