Easy

In this DIY, we’re going to be taking a sweater that is too small and transforming it into a two-piece matching set.

Follow along to find out how to make this super stylish upcycled sweater.

Tools and materials:

  • Small sweater
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Sewing machine or needle and thread
Cutting

1. Cut across sweater

Start by cutting from one side of the neckline to just below the sleeve on the opposite side.

Cutting

2. Cut other side

Proceed to cut off the sleeve on the other side.

Pinning

3. Pin the top

Next, pin the open top of the sweater.

Sewing

4. Sew

Sew down where you have pinned to create a clean finish. You can also take the sweater in at the sides if it is too wide.

Cutting

5. Cut the sleeves

Take the two sleeves and cut the top parts off of them.

Cutting

6. Cut a hole

Now, cut a hole on each sleeve for the thumbs to come out of.

Here is the finished matching set. I love the one-shoulder sweater look that has a gorgeous diagonal line going across the front. The arm warmers look super cute and really complement the sweater.

Now that you know how to upcycle a sweater, you no longer need to throw your shrunken sweaters in the trash. Give this a go for yourself!

Not inspired. Most women wouldn't wear a sleeveless, shoulderless sweater. Too cold in winter, too hot in summer.

I love to see creativity with garments instead of tossing them out..What I do with tops that are problems is cut them up the front and make them cardigans..most materials like hoodies don’t even need extra sewing ..
