Hey guys! I can’t wait to show you how to turn a men’s tie into this amazing accessory.

The textiles for men’s ties are so great. We’re going to use these fabulous fabrics to make something completely new.

Tools and materials:

  • Tie
  • Sewing needle
  • String
  • Button
  • Large safety pin
Stitching and gathering

1. Stitch and gather

Start at the tip of the thick side of the tie and sew a simple straight stitch along one edge.

Pull the fabric gathering it into the stitch as you sew and watch a beautiful flower form.

Embellishing and securing

2. Embellish and secure

Embellish your flower with a pretty button at the center. Then sew and secure everything.

Creating a closure

3. Create a closure

Use a big safety pin to create a closure in the back of the flower.

4. Wear it around your neck

I have found two really cool ways to wear this accessory.

The first is to wear it around your neck. Thread the long skinny end of the tie through the safety pin to create the loop.

5. Belt it

You can also wear it as a belt. Thread the end of the tie through the safety pin to secure it as a belt. It creates such a unique look.

I love the way you can take a boring necktie and turn it into such a versatile and interesting accessory.

Nicely done refashioned tie, looks great. Hitting garage sales on Saturday morning to scoop up some ties.

I wonder why she looks so bored, I'll be sporting a smile when I wear mine.
