Easy Voluminous Straight Hair Tutorial

Hi everyone. In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to add volume to flat hair so you can get voluminous straight hair in no time. Let's get started.
Tools and materials:
- Teasing brush
- Hairspray
- Coconut oil
1. Wash and blow dry your hair
Hair stylists say it’s better to do your hair on the second day because when your hair is super clean, it’s not easy to style.
However, I really like the fresh feeling on my head so I’m going to style it right after my hair wash. If I have time, I usually let my hair air-dry but today I have to blow dry it.
As you can see, my hair is silky and straight but there’s no volume at all.
2. Comb the topmost layer
To add volume to fine hair, you’ll need a teasing brush.
Starting in the back, use your teasing brush to comb through the very top layer a few times.
Set it down and don’t touch it.
3. Tease the second layer
For the next layer, comb through it as you did with the first layer, but this time, start teasing it from the top to the bottom only on the backside.
4. Spray with hairspray
Spray the layer with an extra strong hold hairspray.
5. Continue teasing the remaining layers
For the remaining layers, tease on the front and the back and use hairspray on both sides. I only tease about 3-5 layers and leave the rest of the hair as it is.
6. Tease the side parts
As you did previously, don’t touch the very first layer of your hair.
Tease only on the back of the second layer, and tease both sides for the remaining layers.
Try to concentrate more on the back of your head than the front part. For the side, tease around 3-4 layers.
Here are the teasing results. This isn’t the final result, but you can see a lot of volume!
7. Comb your hair
Use the teasing brush to comb your hair down. When you comb properly, there should be no hair sticking out.
8. Apply coconut oil to the bottom of your hair
Lastly, use a coconut oil spray on your hair. I usually spray it on my hand and put it on the bottom half of my hair.
Voluminous straight hair
Here’s the final result of my voluminous straight hair routine!
It may not be super impressive for girls with naturally voluminous or curly hair, but it looks nice for girls with fine, super straight hair!

Ha! Back to the 60’s…I like her fuller look rather than long stringy style..not everyone can wear that look..long isn’t always better on some..
Not every one of us with very fine hair can tease her hair; the tangles are horrible. In the 70s, I have had to return to a beauty shop to get the tangles washed out with conditioner (after I requested the beautician NOT to tease or rat my hair.) The least possible stroke with a teasing comb or brush, with a spritz of hairspray, may be effective enough without the pain of having to work it out.
