Today, I'm going to be sharing a voluminous curls hair tutorial with you. These curls are fun, playful, and sexy - and who doesn’t want that?

This hairstyle is one of the styles that I really like to rock. Let’s get straight to it!

Tools and materials:

  • Curling iron
  • Heat protectant spray
  • Hairbrush
  • Claw clip
  • Hair oil
  • Dry shampoo
  • Teasing comb
  • De-frizz spray
  • Hairspray
Spraying hair

1. Spray hair

Start with freshly washed and dried hair. Take a curling iron - I’m using a 1.5-inch one - and turn it on to about 350 degrees.

But, before you start curling your hair, spray it all over with a heat protectant spray.

Then lightly brush it through your hair to disperse the product and remove any knots.

2. Curl hair

Take a claw clip and clip up the top half of your hair so that you can begin curling on the bottom.

Take a one-inch piece section, grab your curling iron, and clamp it around the hair.

When I clamp it and turn it, I like to leave out a one-inch piece at the end to create a really loose natural looking wave.

3. Curl the rest

Continue curling all of the rest of your head. The pieces in the front you want to curl away from your face, and then you can alternate the curl pattern throughout the rest of your head.

Curling in different directions gives it that full look we're going for, and it mixes it up.

Once you’ve done all the hair at the bottom, unclip the top section and curl those pieces.

4. Curl pieces at top

When you get to the pieces on the very top of your head, curl them in the opposite direction of where you want them to fall so that it's going to create a little volume when you flip them back over.

So, if you want a piece of hair to fall on the left side of your head, curl it towards the right and then flip it over.

This is a great trick to build volume on finer, more flat hair.

Shaking hair out

5. Shake hair out

Once all the hair has been curled, flip it over and shake it out. Run your fingers through it to break up those curls.

Adding dry shampoo

6. Spray dry shampoo

Spray dry shampoo all over your hair to give it texture and body. Work it in with your fingers.

Teasing hair

7. Tease with a comb

Section off a couple of areas on each side and in the back, and lightly tease them with a comb to give your hair a hint of volume.

Adding hair oil

8. Add hair oil

Add some hair oil to the ends of your hair and on the curls to soften them and give them a little shine.

Adding de-frizz spray

9. Spray de-frizz spray

Next, take some de-frizz spray and spritz that all over as well. This will help tame any frizz.

Adding hairspray

10. Spray hairspray

Spritz some hairspray all over to set the look.

Sliding hair up

11. Slide hair up

This little trick is fun, you're just going to grab a piece of hair and slide it up to create a messier, more voluminous look.

And that is it that is how I style my short hair in this fun, flirty, fabulous, very full curly look.

This will last me a couple of days. This look is most certainly not natural volume, but I hope you enjoyed seeing the things you can do to make your hair look bigger, fuller, and super voluminous.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and will give it a go for yourself!
