Every woman needs a selection of classic wardrobe essentials. These timeless pieces will never go out of fashion and are the cornerstone pieces of a capsule wardrobe.

I’m going to show you a selection of pieces that I think every woman should own. They are all very versatile and help you to get the most out of your wardrobe by styling them in all sorts of different ways.

Classic white shirt

1. White shirt

A classic white shirt is a staple piece in any woman’s closet. This shirt right here is my favorite. It's collarless, buttonless, and has a loose fit. There is such a variety of styles out there, so you’re really spoilt for choice.

I would advise that you have a handful of white shirts in different designs, and I guarantee that you will get a lot of wear out of all of them.

Fitted, tailored black blazer over an outfit

2. Black blazer

Black blazers have come a long way since the time they were confined to the office and considered just a workwear piece. They are the perfect addition to a casual look and will instantly elevate whatever you wear them with.

While oversized blazers are definitely on-trend, I would advise investing in a fitted, tailored blazer that will enhance your natural proportions and be very flattering.

Plain white t-shirt

3. Plain white t-shirt

A plain white t-shirt is like a blank canvas that you can reinvent in countless different ways. It's so easy to work with and accessorize, and really the styling potential is limitless.

Knit sweater with belted paperbag pants

4. Knit sweater

Get yourself a knit sweater in a super-comfortable material and you won't want to take it off. I advise getting a handful of knit sweaters in neutral colors, so you'll be able to effortlessly pair them with any outfit.

Black camisole under a red pantsuit

5. Camisoles

Camisoles are another foundation stone to any wardrobe. I have a bunch of them in white, black, and cream, and I like to wear them as a base layer under a shirt. That way, you can wear your shirt unbuttoned.

Choosing denim jeans that work for your shape

6. Jeans

Denim jeans are a no-brainer really. They are a piece that you can go for time and time again, and never get bored of them. There are so many styles out there, so go for whatever cut works best for your body shape.

My favorite pair are high-waisted skinny jeans in a medium wash. They allow for endless styling combinations.

Simple black dress pants

7. Black pants

The next essential wardrobe piece is a pair of high-waisted, black pants. Invest in a tailored pair that fit you perfectly and you won't look back. This pair here has a built-in belt, which is an added bonus.

You can easily dress these pants up with a smart silk shirt and some heels, or pair them with a baggy t-shirt tucked in for an elevated everyday look.

Loafers are a wardrobe essential

8. Loafers

Loafers never go out of style. Opt for a pair that isn't too loud and over-embellished, yet has a touch of character. I love loafers in metallic colors, as they look stylish and sophisticated, but in a subtle way.

Black pointed heels

9. Black pointed heels

For me, black pointed heels are an absolute necessity. You can wear them with anything and they'll look fabulous. The obvious choice is to pair them with a stunning dress, but I also like to wear them with pants and a sweater to add a bit of glam to an everyday look.

Black pumps are a wardrobe essential

10. Black pumps

Black pumps are another piece you need to have. These ones have a touch of snake print on them, which adds a subtle bit of character.

Wearing pumps with casual outfits looks so much more put together than wearing sneakers, and they add some elegance to your overall appearance.

A black bag is a key accessory

11. Petite black bag

Lastly, we have a key accessory, a black bag. Go for a structured leather bag and it will serve you well for many years. This is definitely worth spending a bit more on, as a bag of lower quality may lose its shape over time.

Wardrobe essentials tutorial

There we have my wardrobe essentials. The trick when choosing essentials is to go for stylish, straightforward pieces in neutral colors that you can style in lots of different ways.

They form the foundation of your wardrobe, and once you have them, you can then add in some color, pattern, and your own unique style.
