How to Style a Large Silk Scarf in 4 Different Ways
In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to style a large silk scarf. The scarf I’m using measures 53x53 inches (135x135cm) and has a gorgeous paisley print. I think that scarves are like origami in that there are so many ways you can fold and style them and so many different looks you can create. Let’s get started!
The base fold for all of the styles I’ll be showing you is a large band.
Style 1 - Voluminous braid
Step 1 - Cross at the back
Place the band on your neck, cross the ends behind and then bring them forward.
Step 2 - Twist the middle
Pull the front loop down and twist it.
Step 3 - Pass the ends through the loop
Take one end and pass it through the loop. The top part of this side is already passed over, so we’re going to pass the bottom part under.
Then take the other end; the top part of this side is already passed under, so we’re going to pass the bottom part over the loop and then through it.
Tie a knot at the bottom of the scarf, and voila, you have a lovely voluminous braid.
Style 2 - Wide loop
Step 1 - Tie a double knot
For the second style, as before, place the band on your neck, cross the ends behind and then bring them forward. Then tie a double knot at the bottom, making the ends look pretty.
Step 2 - Pull the middle down
Now, pull the middle part down and make it large. Cover the knot but leave the ends visible.
This was so easy to do, and it looks great.
You also have the option of hiding the ends for an elegant-looking infinity scarf.
Style 3 - Decorative knot
Step 1 - Make a knot
Place the scarf over your neck and make a knot on one side.
Step 2 - Pass the other side through
Then pass the other side through the loop. It should look like a big tie. Tighten the knot.
Step 3 - Pass both sides through
Next, take the ends and pass them both through again. Spread out the ends, and you can play around with the level of the knot and the length of the ends to find the shape that works best for you.
And here is the finished look!
Style 4 - Long loop
Step 1 - Make a knot
The fourth style is the easiest one. Just place the scarf over your shoulders and tie the ends at the level of your waist. Then spread out the side parts.
Step 2 - Tie ends in the knot
If the ends are too long for your liking, you can tie them in the knot.
This style will elongate your torso and make you look slimmer.
You can also wear the scarf under a jacket like this.
How to style a large silk scarf
There we have four ways that you can style a large silks scarf, all far more stylish than just wrapping it over your neck. I hope you’ve found this step-by-step tutorial easy to follow, and you’ve been inspired to try out some of the scarf styles for yourself.
