How to Style Monochrome Outfits in Rainbow Colors
Typically, when we think of dressing in monochrome, we think of beiges, tans, blacks, and whites, but I decided to go against the current and style monochromatic outfits out of rainbow colors. This was a bit of a challenge, but hey, who doesn’t like a good style challenge once in a while? These outfits were really fun to put together - I hope you like them!
Red
For this outfit, I decided to go with a blazer and jogger pants in the same tone. The top is actually a scarf which I tied it around my chest to create an interesting, strapless piece. I love the brown bag with the red scarf tied to it; it adds even more character to this outfit. This look is great if you’re really looking to make an entrance!
Orange 1
Here I decided to go with a neutral jumpsuit. I added orange tones with the sweatshirt that I’ve tied around my waist. Not only does the sweatshirt add that beautiful pop of color, but it also doubles up as a belt, syncing in my waist and accentuating it. I also featured orange in this outfit with the cute bag and my sunglasses.
Orange 2
The next color was supposed to be yellow, but I hardly have any yellow clothes in my wardrobe, so I decided to go with another orange look. I love this dress and the little gold sparkly details; it has summer written all over it. The off-the-shoulder detail, the wide billowy sleeves, and the flowy skirt, ah, it’s perfect. Accessories I kept stylish but minimal with an understated white necklace and a fanny pack.
Green
Here I'm wearing a thrifted suit, possibly my all-time favorite thrifted find. I styled it with a simple khaki strappy vest and added some more green into the look with my shoulder bag and loafers. All the details here look super stylized and deliberate. I also love how I managed to mix different shades of green together and create one cohesive look.
Blue
I decided to go with a tracksuit for a casual look because everyone needs a tracksuit to fall back on. I dressed it up with a chain bag, square sunglasses, sparkly sneakers, as well as a bit of jewelry. Adding accessories to a casual outfit is a great way to take it from slouchy to chic.
Purple
Lastly, we have an elegant, feminine outfit. Here I’m wearing a lavender slip dress with a lilac cardigan and I’ve kept it classy with a pair of glittery pumps and a clutch bag. This outfit is very straightforward and creates a look that is so much more than the sum of its parts.
And there we have it! Six super colorful outfits that will brighten up anyone’s day. I definitely think that I passed this style challenge that I set for myself with flying colors! (Get it?) What to style next? Maybe I’ll try to pull a yellow outfit together, as well as a pink one, and then maybe I could move onto metallics as well.

I feel like if you just get nuts and throw on anything in a monochromatic scheme-you can do this. I mean you put some funky ideas together-and it works! That red look? A handkerchief top under a jacket? Totally works! Love your style!
YOu have a great eye for color! I just love the red one.
