Can you wear cropped wide leg pants in winter outfits? Absolutely! Here are a few examples to help you get more out of your closet all year round.

Cropped wide leg pants are some of my favorite styles of pants right now, and they can absolutely be worn in winter outfits!

I want to show you three easy examples of how to wear this style of pant in your cold weather outfits. Typically I’ll wear cropped pants in the spring or summer, or even in the fall, but it’s really nice to get more use out of your clothes year round, and this is a perfect example of that.

How to wear cropped wide leg pants in winter outfits

Wear your cropped wide leg pants with chelsea boots

As long as your chelsea or flat ankle boots have a slim shaft that fits nicely into your wider leg pants, you can pair them together. If you have a little bit of an ankle gap, fill that with a tall sock to keep your legs warmer!

I kept the rest of this outfit simple with a pullover sweater half tucked. The thicker fabric of the sweater balances the darker and heavier shoe nicely.

Try your cropped pants with high top sneakers

High top sneakers (or “mids” as the young kids call them) are great for the winter when you want to wear a casual shoe but want to keep your feet and ankles a little warmer.

I chose this black pair and paired it with a basic tee, cropped coat, and a casual hat. You could also do a hoodie or a sweater or a long sleeve tee here, and remember you can fill that ankle gap with socks!!

Dress up your cropped wide leg pants for winter

If you want to go a little dressier, try a chic sweater, a pair of block heel ankle boots, and a dress coat.

I chose a coat that is fitted in the shoulders and nips in at the waist to make sure I don’t get boxy with a long coat and wide leg pants.
