How to Look Put Together: Easy Hacks From Stylish Women
Today, we’re going to talk about my favorite topic: stylish women!
Follow along to learn how to look put together with some clever fashion hacks and stylish outfit ideas.
This woman looks great, but not necessarily stylish. In my opinion, her look is too one-dimensional and lacks personality:
A stylish woman has timeless style but also modern and everything she wears has her soul in it.
She manipulates her outfits based on her moods and is free from conventions.
Above all, she’s immune to criticism because she’s confident about who she is.
1. Stylish women learn from the past
For timeless style ideas, look to the past to get fashion inspiration that resonates with you.
These women were trendsetters in their own time and their style is still relevant today:
Once you learn the fundamentals from past style icons, refer to current designers to remain relevant.
These 2 factors, combined with your personal style is the secret for how to look put together.
There’s no need to buy from the runway, and you should steer clear of style influencers who are paid to advertise certain items.
2. Try on items
Another style tip we can take from stylish women is to not only try on items before purchasing them, but also try them on on a regular basis when they’re in your wardrobe.
Doing this will allow you to make decisions about that item: Does it still fit? Does it need alterations or cleaning?
Try filming yourself in the items to check out how they look on your body when moving.
Before saying goodbye to an item, give it another change by styling it in a new way.
3. Make room
I’m a proponent of wardrobe feng shui: making room in your wardrobe, like an energy flow.
If you buy something, consider giving another item away so your wardrobe doesn’t swell up.
This way, it will be easier to navigate your closet and see everything you have to work with. Keep your wardrobe clean, uncluttered and precise
One fun idea is to get your friends together for a clothing exchange and styling together.
4. Sizing
Stylish women don’t worry about being a certain size.
Instead, it’s important to consider how you want to feel in the clothing and notice where and how they fall on your body.
For example, an oversized blazer, no matter if you downsize by a few sizes, will never look fitted.
Conversely, a fitted blazer in a size that’s too big for your body will not have the same feel and look as an oversized blazer that matches your body’s size.
This isn’t a hard and set rule, since sometimes you can choose to size up, depending on the structure and proportions connected to the style of the item.
Likewise, high-waisted bottoms should fall at your natural waist (usually the narrowest part of your torso).
Mid waist items are designed to fit just below the waist.
The zipper length tends to be longer and the waist opening is straighter. This communicates a feeling of ease.
When the style is full, it’s easy to size down to create a different vibe.
But you will lose flexibility since the bigger size allows you to wear it higher or lower at the waist.
5. Finding your style
Once you determine your personal style, you can use your formula to make more and more outfits.
It could be jeans and a blazer or head to toe color - whatever you love, make it yours!
6. Order of the day
Gone are the days when we couldn’t repeat outfits. I’m always mixing and matching the same, beloved pieces to create my outfits.
How to look put together
To feel confident enough to wear your outfits on repeat, you need to reach for items that truly speak to you.
It does take some time to figure out what your personal style means, but it’s worth prioritizing as it will simplify your choices.
It’s all about developing the mindset of a critic and recognizing what works for you. Before you know it, you will have become one of those stylish women!

You have a 'teaching' gifting. It's 1 thing to have the revelation about something , but it's quite another to be able to articulate that revelation/ knowledge. You also are quite creative ...you just happen to express it in dressing here. Another 'born' gifting is sexiness...it's not necessarily what a person wears or even body shape , but it's something that eludes from a person...it comes from the inside. I had a 'sexy' mother and I inherited that from my mother. Even at 74 and all covered up in normal ( not tight ) clothing I have even men in their 40's take a 2nd look at me when I walk by...I say it's in your bones , hahaha !
I can relate to everything you've said ,as I have made / designed my clothes since I was 15 years old. I've had people say over the years that I could make even a potato sack look expensive and even sexy !! You have a lot of insight...TKS
Hi Faith, thank you for the wonderful comment. It really is refreshing to hear that you make your own clothes and that have an innate sense of style :)
