How to Wear a Halter Top Modestly

The hottest days of summer are upon us and trying to stay cool is top priority. If you love the look of halter tops but don’t like showing quite so much skin, I hear you.

I recently came across a few vintage halter tops in my wardrobe. While the carefree halter can have it’s place, those who want to dress a little more modestly can still enjoy the look while covering up a bit more. The key is a layer underneath.

Here are three ways to wear a halter top modestly:

Halter with a Tank Top

If you want a little more coverage and some support underneath a halter, a tank top with a built-in shelf liner bralette is your answer. The tank provides coverage of the belly area, a portion of your back and a low-cut in the front. The shelf-lined bralette gives support and coverage in place of wearing a halter-strap bra. The tank top straps showing to the sides of the halter can add a layer of interest. Another coverage option for the belly is high-waisted skirts or pants, meeting just below the bottom of the halter. Halter with a Halter Bodysuit

If coverage of just your belly is what you’re looking for, a scoop-neck halter bodysuit will provide a discreet option. The halter style stays almost completely hidden under the halter with the exception of showing at the midriff. Choose a contrasting color to provide an extra pop or go with a nude shade to give the illusion of skin while feeling more covered. The bodysuit style will help it stay sleek and fitted underneath. Halter with a T-Shirt

Layer a halter over a t-shirt for a fun look that is a little more obvious in its modesty. You can still give your halter an outing but feel completely covered. This works great for revealing halters, such as those made of crochet or thin fabric that you wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing on its own. Just make sure the t-shirt is a slim fit, thin material style so it looks smoother underneath without bulk. Shop slim-fit t-shirts.

Now that you have some ideas on how to wear halter tops modestly, which one will you try?
