Placing pine branches onto the sweater

1. Sew on the branches

For the DIY ugly Christmas sweater materials, you’ll need a few pine tree branches. Lay them out on your sweater so that it mimics a cute little Christmas tree. Then, manually sew on the branches to your sweater using a needle and thread.

Tip: If you want to get the job done faster, hand-sew the tips of the branches rather than the center.

Adding dehydrated orange slices

2. Add oranges

Now I’m adding some oranges to my DIY Christmas tree sweater. I put a few slices in the oven until they got dehydrated. This also means my DIY ugly Christmas sweater also smells like Christmas, with scents of pine and orange! The oranges also resemble ornaments on the tree.

Then, hand-sew each piece. You don’t need to sew the whole perimeter of the orange; all you need is to sew two large “X” stitches on either side of the orange to secure it in place.
