Follow along with my late night thrift flip for a zero waste simple fix resulting in a dress you’ll love!

With minimal effort, you can make this yourself using a similar dress. Let’s get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Large sweater dress
  • Fabric scissors
  • Straight pins
  • Sewing machine and thread
Dress before

1. Remove band

Start by removing the band at the bottom of the sweater dress, if your dress has one.

2. Make a turtleneck

Use the band that you cut off to create a turtleneck. Start by securing it in place with straight pins.

Then, sew over the connection with a zigzag stitch. I made the stitch go slightly over the edge so that it would lay flat.

Optional: If you had any leftover fabric from the bottom band, sew it together to make a new band.
