DIY Little Black Dress From an Oversized Men's T-Shirt (Easy Sewing!)

A little black dress is a closet staple for many, but no need to go out and purchase something when you can make one yourself! Here's how to transform a basic, oversized men's t-shirt into a sexy, strappy, little black dress with some easy sewing.

Step 1: Gather Materials

Step 2: Cut Shape & Pin

You can place a dress that you already have on top of the t-shirt as a pattern. Then use your fabric scissors to cut out the shape, leaving about an inch around the sides just in case — you can always make it smaller later if necessary! Clip or pin around the edges.

Step 3: Cut Straps

Using a piece of excess fabric attached to one of the sleeves, cut four long strips that are about 1/2 an inch wide and stretch them out. These will be the straps of the dress.

Step 4: Sew Edges

First, sew around the edges of the dress.

Step 5: Sew Straps

Now it's time to add the straps. I chose to create a double strap, criss-cross back look, but feel free to add the straps in a design that fits your style!

All done!

That's it! A few simple steps later, you have a fitted LBD that you can proudly say you made yourself. Thanks for checking out this tutorial!
