Wowzer, when is a summer dress not a summer dress?

When its perfectly styled for autumn!

I just made the coolest summer dress and I'm going to share how you can make one too, then style it two ways for a perfect hot summer day and a chilly autumn one to!!

I really love my new summer dress, its the So Over It, Sofia dress.

You can find the pattern here > The Sofia Dress - Summer Dress Sewing Pattern - Sew Over It

I made it in the softest cotton lawn from Felicity fabrics and you can grab some too > Dashwood Studio – ace cotton lawn – botanical navy – Felicity Fabrics

So, let me share with you all the good stuff on how I made it!

The first couple of steps are to stitch the bodice front pieces together and add the straps.

Next we stitch the under bust band to the bodice front and add bodice back sections to the front at the side seams.

Next we stitch the first tier of the skirt to the front bodice, leaving the back skirt free, we then add some elastic to the top of the back skirt!!

Next we gather the two lower tiers and stitch them onto the upper tier. Once that is done we just need to add buttons to the back bodice and hem!!

Job done, now lets style it up!

I just love the style of this dress, its so perfect for a summer day or a winter sun holiday, I've styled it here with some cute sandals.

But I also love to style it up with a cosy sweater and leather boots, so comfy and perfect for a cooler autumn day!!
