Easy Last-minute DIY Christmas Gifts
If you’re running short of time or money, scrunchies make great last-minute DIY Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers.
They’re fun, quick and easy to sew from fabric scraps. Make one with me!
Tools and materials:
- Fabric scraps
- 3/8 inch wide elastic
- Pins
- Scissors
- Safety pin
- Iron
- Sewing machine
- Labels (optional)
1. Fabric
Cut a strip of fabric 22 inches long by 4 inches wide. You can make it wider for a giant scrunchie.
2. Fold
Fold it in half lengthways with the right side inside, and pin.
Fold a quarter inch at one end to the wrong side.
3. Sew
Sew the long edge, taking a quarter inch seam allowance.
4. Turn
Use the safety pin to turn it right side out.
Press well with the seam in the center.
5. Elastic
Cut your elastic to 9 inches in length.
Use the safety pin again to thread it through the scrunchie.
Overlap the ends of the elastic and sew them together.
6. Join
Push the end with the raw edge inside the folded end.
Sew them together through the elastic.
Easy last-minute DIY Christmas gift
Pop the finished scrunchies in a cute little bag in sets of toning colors.
Or make some labels with a Cricut or similar and attach them.
Either way, your friends will be delighted with the gifts.
