Applying sunscreen before makeup

1. Apply sunscreen

Applying sunscreen is super important to take care of your skin.

Applying primer before makeup

2. Apply primer

A primer is key if you want your makeup to last all day. Ensure that you use the appropriate amount of primer for your skin; I have oily skin and will need a little more. Also, makeup tends to melt in the spring and summer, and primer keeps it in place.

Applying a second layer of primer

I’m going in with the second layer, a smoothing primer, and placing it around my cheeks. This helps minimize pores, especially when wearing daytime makeup when minor skin imperfections are more visible.

Applying concealer with fingers

3. Apply concealer

According to Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist, you first put concealer and then foundation. I'm using two colors and applying the lighter one right under my eyes with my ring finger.

Adding a second coat of concealer in a lighter shade

Next, apply a second coat with a slightly lighter shade. Then, blend it in.

Tip: Beyonce’s makeup artist recommends not going too light with your concealer

Applying foundation with fingers

4. Apply foundation

If you’re going for a minimal everyday makeup look, I suggest using a tinted, long-wear moisturizer. Or, you can go for your favorite regular foundation for long-lasting coverage. I’ll be going for the foundation as I’ll be out for most of the day, and I don’t want to reapply my makeup.

Place a few dots around your face and blend them with your fingertips. This will help melt the foundation into your skin. Don’t forget your eyelids.

Blending foundation with a beauty blender sponge

Use a beauty blender to blend in whatever your fingertips didn’t get.

Adding setting powder for baking

5. Add setting powder

Apply setting powder to your under eyes or, if you want, your whole face. Leave the powder on your face to give it time to bake, and let’s move on to the next step.

Applying eyelid primer to prevent creases

6. Apply eyelid primer

For the perfect everyday eye makeup, apply an eyelid primer to help prevent creases.

Applying a rose-colored eyeshadow

7. Apply eyeshadow

I’m alternating between two shimmery liquid eyeshadow colors, as shown above. These are pretty subtle and are great for everyday makeup looks. I’m starting with the rose color and applying it all over my lids. I think this gives a pretty, subtle color.

Adding gold on top of the rose color

If you like the subtle look, you can stop here. Or, if you want a touch of color, go in with gold.

Applying powder eyeshadow on top of liquid

To make your eyeshadow last all day, apply a powder eyeshadow on top of the liquid. Here, I’m going for a gold shimmer powder. You can go for a matte color if you don’t want shimmer.

Brushing eyebrow hairs with a spoolie

8. Neaten your eyebrows

Brush your eyebrow hairs up with a spoolie.

Using a brow pencil to fill in brows

Next, use a brow pencil and fill in your brows by mimicking hair strokes throughout.

Setting brows with eyebrow gel

Go over it with some eyebrow gel, so they stay in place all day.

Applying concealer under the brows

Apply a little concealer with a brush right underneath your brow. This will make the brow look cleaner and prevent any eyebrow pencil or powder from leaking down.

Blending the creases of the eyes

Blend the creases of your eyes with a crease brush to ensure there are no lines you may have missed.

Applying colored eyeshadow to the lower lash line

This is optional; apply a little eyeshadow to your under eyes to add depth. I’m going for a maroon color to match my dress.

Dusting off the setting powder

9. Remove the setting powder

Remove the setting powder with a big fluffy brush.

Applying bronzer to the face

10. Apply bronzer

Everyday makeup doesn’t need crazy contour lines, so go for something subtle. For a sunkissed look, apply bronzer to the sides of your face. Apply a little to the jawline and down the neck.

Applying a pin-colored blush

11. Apply brush

I’m going for this pretty pink color for my blush. Apply this to the cheekbones.

Applying highlighter to the cheekbones

12. Apply highlighter

Next, add highlighter right on your cheekbones and the tip of your nose.

Applying mascara to the lashes

13. Apply mascara

Apply your favorite mascara. I’m only applying to my lower lashes as I have eyelash extensions on top.

Applying a natural-colored lipstick

14. Apply lipstick

I like wearing natural lipstick like the one shown above. This is great for daytime.

Adding a colored lipstick for the evening

If you’re going into nighttime and want a little more color, then something like a mauve shade would work well. This is the perfect way to transition from day to night by simply changing your lip color.
