If you’re a short haired girl just looking for some hairstyles that will work for you, you’ve come to the right place!

Follow along with my simple, step-by-step tutorial to create a half up braided bun that’s perfect for short hair.

Tools and materials:

  • 1 hair elastic
Braiding

1. Start a small braid

Brush all of your hair to the back.

Then, grab a small amount of hair from the center of your forehead, split the section into three equal parts and begin a small braid.

2. Add in hair

Once you’ve done 2 or 3 crosses of the regular, 3 strand braid, begin to add hair to the side strands from either side of the braid.

Braiding

Continue braiding, adding in more hair from the sides as you go.

3. Secure the end with a bun

Once you’re near the end of the hair, with about 3 inches to spare, tie off the end of the braid with a hair elastic.

But instead of pulling the hair all the way through, leave a loop bun.

4. Add the finishing touches

Hold the bottom with one hand and use the other to pinch and pull gently at the sections of the braid.

This will add some volume and texture.
