If you struggle with getting a voluminous half-up pony, then this is the hack for you.

I’ll show you a quick tip on how to add volume to fine hair. Let’s jump into it.

Tools and materials:

  • Styling cream
  • Brush
  • Hair ties
  • Ribbon (optional)
Adding styling cream

1. Apply a styling cream

Apply a styling cream to the top half of your head with the hair you plan to pull back.

Brushing hair up

2. Brush your hair half-up

Split your hair into a top and bottom section and brush the hair back into a half-ponytail.

The hair should slick back evenly because of the cream. Tie it off.

Splitting ponytail

3. Split your ponytail

Split your half-up ponytail into half.

Tying top half

4. Tie the top half of the ponytail

With a new hair tie, begin tying the top half of the ponytail. Wrap it a few times. The extra hair tie is what will give you volume.

Tying ponytail

5. Finish tying the rest of the ponytail

Finish tying the rest of the hair tie with the entire ponytail.

Tightening ponytail

6. Tighten

Tighten the ponytail.
