How to Refresh Curly Hair in 3 Quick & Easy Steps

Curls are beautiful, and you can keep them that way by learning how to refresh curly hair. It’s a simple 3-step technique using tools you already have, so there’s nothing stopping you from doing it right now! Ready? Let’s go.
Tools and materials:
- Heat protectant spray
- Curling wand or curling iron
- Soft paddle brush
- Texture spray
1. Protect your hair from heat
Since you will be using a heat styling tool, you need to put something on your hair first, to protect it. Apply a pre-iron heat protectant mist all over your hair, from a distance. If you spray too close to your hair, then you will make your hair too wet for styling.
2. Refresh your curls
Use a curling wand to style your hair. Start with small sections of your hair that look like they have straightened. Wrap the section of hair around the curling wand. Don’t go all the way to the top of the section and hold onto the bottom end of the section.
Release the curling wand and you have your first gorgeous curl. Pull down on it a little so it’s more natural-looking.
Repeat on all the sections of your hair that need refreshed curls.
Tip: to make the look more natural, wind some of the sections around the wand towards your face, and some sections away from your face. Also, vary the size of your sections so you have some smaller and some larger ones.
Don’t forget the back of your head!
3. Fluff out your curls
Spray your beautiful new curls with texture spray.
Then use your fingers to fluff out the curls from underneath.
You can also use a soft paddle brush to lightly fluff and add volume to the curls at the bottom.
