Looking to Update Your Denim? Here's How to Paint Jeans With Stamps
In today’s tutorial, I am going to show you how to paint jeans using stamps. This method is super easy and user-friendly! Using stamps allows for so much creativity while ensuring that your final look will look super professional. Let's get started.
Tools and materials:
- Fabric paint
- Acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- Stamps
- Tupperware
1. Prep the paint
Mix together white fabric paint and cream acrylic paint in a Tupperware container. Make sure the final shade is pretty light.
2. Coat the stamp
Start from the bottom back of your jeans. Using a paintbrush, paint a light coat of your mixture on the stamp, then press firmly to your jeans.
3. Stamp away
Continue to stamp up the back of your jeans. You don’t want everything too uniform. You can stamp at different angles, even overlapping each other a little.
Tip: Make sure to clean out your stamp every so often to get off the residual paint on the sides.
4. Mix up the pattern
Here, I am mixing up the stamps to create different yet cohesive patterns. I do not want it to look too matchy-matchy.
5. Stamp the front and pockets
Flip your jeans over and continue the process on the other side.
You want your stamps to look distressed. You don’t want every stamp to be solid-looking. You want to get the different textures and shades.
6. Create the crooked look
At the bottom hemline, take the stamp and press it halfway off the jeans. Make sure to put a napkin underneath so that you do not get your work surface dirty.
You want to make sure that there are no random pockets of empty space.
7. Let the paint dry
Let them rest until they are dry and enjoy!

will the pattern come off when you wash the jeans?
I'm slapping my forehead...I've used fabric paint on pillow cases, sheets, etc, but it never occurred to me to add to jeans, jackets so forth.
I'm so glad I've seen your tutorial. Thanks🙂
