Tools and materials:
- 5mm flat leather
- 26 gauge silver craft wire
- Superglue
- Clasp
- Jump Rings
- Freshwater pearls
- End caps
- Cutters
- Chain nose pliers
- Bent chain nose pliers
- Scissors
Cut the leather
Determine the length of your wrist and cut the leather accordingly. For me, it’s about 6 ½ inches. Next, determine where to start adding in the pearls. For me, I calculated that 2 ¼ inches would be the best starting point for me.
Add the pearls
Cut around 24 inches of wire and starting from 2 ¼ inches , wrap the wire around the leather roughly three to four times. Make sure the wire is nice and tight, and the loops are close to each other as possible.
Next, feed through one of the pearls and bring it down to the wrap you just made. Place it on the leather and determine the pearl’s placement. Once you’re satisfied with where it sits, hold the pearl down with your thumb and wrap the excess wire three times again. Ensure that the pearl sits snugly with no gaps by the wire.
Repeat this step for all seven pieces.
When you get to the end, turn the leather bracelet around and trim off the excess wire.
Burnish down the ends with your pliers, making sure it’s more on the leather than the wrapped wire.
Then, tuck the wire’s ends underneath the wires, as shown.
Push the rest of the wires together with your pliers to give your leather bracelet a neater finish.
Finish off the DIY leather bracelet
Place a generous amount of glue on either end of the leather and gently push the end-cap over the ends. Make sure the ends are seated inside the end-cap all the way and are tightly encased.
Now, open one jump ring and feed it through one end of the cap-end. Place the ring on that end and close the jump ring, making sure there’s no gaps.
Then, one the opposite end, add three jump rings and the bar.
There you have it, the perfect leather bracelet combo! I love how the pearls give the basic leather bracelet a wonderful and sophisticated edge. The best part is, you can make a leather bracelet in any color you like. You can get super creative with this project.
