Fabric Hoop Earrings

Cut the circles

Using a sturdy piece of cardboard, trace two equal-sized circles as shown. You can use a plastic container lid or the bottom of a medium coffee mug as a guide.

Then, trace a smaller circle in the middle.

How to make fabric earrings

Next, to make the fabric hoop earrings, cut out the pieces. You will notice I cut mine out as rims. Do the same, and then glue two pieces together.

Glue the fabric

Working in increments, add a good amount of glue on the outer side of the cardboard.

Take a strip of fabric and loop it around the rim as you go along.

Pull the fabric tightly so that there are no gaps or loose bits. Continue this method until the whole hoop is encased with fabric. Repeat this on the second earring.

Add the headpin and clasp

Now, assemble the fabric earrings by adding the necessary hardware to turn them into cool, dangly earrings. To see how I did this, check out my tutorial from 1:20 minutes.

TIP-

Use your round nose pliers to secure the gaps of the jump rings tightly.

Stylish is not even a word to describe the beauty you see here! I love the print, I love the colors, and I love that it was easy to make!

Cut the cardboard and fabric

Now, for the second style, cut out two squares from your cardboard. Then, cut out fabric that will be just enough to encase the whole square.

Glue down the fabric

Encase the fabric on the cardboard square by gluing it down accordingly. Make sure every side and corner is wrapped in fabric. Smooth out the fabric as you glue it to avoid any bumps or bubbles. Repeat this on the second cardboard.

TIP-

Allow the glue to dry before proceeding to the next step.

Cut the sides where needed.

On one of the corners, insert a headpin and curve the ends, as shown.

Then, add a jump ring and fish hook, and your beautiful square fabric earrings are complete.

I love the deep blue color, and the African print really takes these earrings to a whole new level. It’s perfect for any occasion! Now that you know how to make fabric earrings, what print will you choose?
