1. Find your almost-perfect pieces

I found this cute pink band top, but it’s a bit too light a shade for my liking.

I also found this red jumpsuit, but I like my reds a deeper shade than this.

2. Dye your almost-perfect pieces

Fill a tub with hot water, according to the directions on your fabric dye.

Dying clothes

To deepen the shade of both my pieces, I added some brown fabric dye.

Dye your clothing pieces according to the directions on the fabric dye package.

Tip: Remember that the dye will only work on the fabric, not on any non-fabric details on the clothes.

So, dye your clothes only long enough so that the fabric color isn’t too far off from any undyed detailing.

Before and after

Here is the before and after of my jumpsuit, and now it’s exactly the color I want it to be!

And I’m much happier with the new shade of my band top as well.

The same brown dye fixed turned both of my almost-perfect pieces into completely perfect pieces!
