Knotted Bun Hair Tutorial
In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to do a simple knotted band bun. Let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- Bun roller
- Elastics
- Hairpins
- Bobby pins
1. Put your hair into a ponytail
For this braided band bun, start with a high, tight ponytail.
You’ll also need a bun roller.
2. Put the bun roller over the ponytail
Pull the bun roller over the ponytail and arrange your hair around it on all sides.
3. Place the elastic over the bun roller
Place an elastic over the bun roller to create a bun.
Then, fluff the bun out so that the bun roller doesn’t show beneath it.
4. Section and braid the hair
Divide the remaining hair into two sections.
Braid the two divided sections down and then tie them off with an elastic.
5. Fluff out the braids
Pancake or fluff out the braids by pinching and pulling.
The wider the braid is, the wider the band will be around your head. I like to have a wide band, so I’m going to fluff mine out quite a bit.
6. Wrap the braids around and pin in place
Roll or wrap the braid around the bun, pinning it in different sections and making sure to tuck the tails underneath the band.
Use bobby pins to secure the very ends and regular hair pins for the rest of it. Just ensure that everything is tucked in.
7. Pin the bun down towards the braid
Once all of the hair is wrapped around and secured, place hairpins into the bun and pull it down towards the braid.
This will give the braid and bun a more seamless look.
