Even though I think you should love yourself no matter what state your skin is in, I know I feel my best when my skin is nice and clear like it is at the moment. But believe me, it does not look like this all the time.

I will be showing you a minimal makeup look for the days when your skin is looking clear, and you want to put a little bit of makeup on, but you don't want to whack a full face on, clog up your paws and go back to where you started.

Tools and materials:

  • Concealer
  • Contour
  • Makeup brushes
  • Soap
  • Spoolie
  • Setting spray
  • Brow pencil
  • Setting powder
  • Mascara
  • Highlighter
Applying concealer

1. Concealer

I have already let all my skincare sink in, so we are going to go straight in with concealer.

The main difference between this look and a normal makeup look is that I will not do a foundation base. Cover up any blemishes and dark marks with some concealer.

Applying contour

2. Contour

Now, take a contour stick and pop it high up on your cheekbones. A little product goes a long way, so you don't really need that much.

Then apply some in your temples, towards the sides of your forehead.

Also apply some under your bottom lip, on your nose, and take that all the way up to the brow. Then buff the cheek contour upwards with a buffing brush.

Applying concealer

3. Concealer

To finish off your nose, take a slightly lighter concealer than before and dot it up your nose and very subtly down the side of your contour. Then tap it in with your finger.

I don't really go in with blush on a daily basis. I’m trying to make this makeup look as realistic as possible and as much as I do love blush, it's not a necessity for me. For the same reason, I don't really need to go in with a bronzer as well.

Doing soap brows

4. Soap brows

When it comes to brows, I am actually going back to soap brows. I'm kind of trying to live a little bit more consciously, and with a bar of soap, there's obviously no packaging.

Take a setting spray and spritz a spoolie. Then rub the spoolie all over the bar of soap. I don't just brush it through my brows immediately, instead, I press into the brow with the product.

Sometimes soap brows can leave a white cast which isn't great but we're trying to live an eco-life here, so you've got to make sacrifices. On the positive side, I think that soap does a better job than most brow gels for sticking up your brows.

Filling in brows

5. Brow pencil

Next, take a brow pencil to fill in any sparse bits.

Applying setting powder

6. Setting powder

Now go in with some matte setting powder but, instead of putting it all over your face to set, get a small brush and drag it under your eyes and on your eyelids.

I find that setting where my lashes touch the skin reduces the transfer. The other place that I like to mattify is right in the center of my forehead because I can get oily there.

Applying mascara

7. Mascara

Apply a normal coat of mascara.

Applying highlighter

8. Highlighter

Finally, I do like to add a little bit more glow with some highlighter. Apply it nice and subtly on your cheeks and then put some on the end of your nose and take it up the bridge of your nose as well.

Also, apply some right above your brows and the inner corners of your lids. Essentially, I like to accentuate anywhere that the sun would naturally hit. Finish off by dusting your face with setting powder and setting spray.

Adding lip balm

9. Lip balm

Some lip balm makes your lips look nice and luscious.

If you are having a good skin day but you still want to put a little bit of makeup on, this 100% is the right way to go. It is minimal and doesn’t involve any foundation. I love this natural makeup look so much.
