Fabric Scraps...I hold on to them, thinking and hoping that I have enough to make something fun, and then nothing ever seems to happen.

The bulk of this beautiful black and gold brocade fabric became a skirt that I wore for dress-up and everyday work. The Skirt was fun and easy to wear.

Now, I have barely 2 yards...probably not enough for a fun pair of pants...But Maybe...Let's See if This Will Work with Maybe a Bit of Magic...

Hello Palazzo Pants from Fabric Scraps...

Ready?? Let's Go!

The Pattern: Simplicity Palazzo Pants...Super Easy and very forgiving...A Perfect Beginner-Sewer Pattern...Only 3 Pieces!!!

Simplicity Easy-To-Sew Pattern Palazzo Pants...Amazon LINK.

I needed the Width of the Fabric for these Pants...but I hoped that I could Work some Magic with the Length...

The Fabric ends about 3/4 down the length of the pattern piece.

Perhaps I can Attach a Different Fabric to Add Length to the Pants???..That may look tacky....We'll see...

The pattern is 3 pieces...Front and Back and Waistband.

Step 1: Lay out the pieces on the Fabric and CUT.

I placed the sides of the Pants as close to the Selvage Edge as possible.

Front and Back are Cut Out...Ready for Assembly...

Step 2: With Right Sides Together, SEW the INSIDE LEG SEAMS.

Easy....

Step 3: With Right Sides Together, SEW the OUTSIDE LEG SEAMS.

For Strength, SEW the SEAMS 2 TIMES.

Step 4: CUT the WAISTBAND (If you have extra fabric) WIDER THAN THE PATTERN PIECE, TO ADD LENGTH TO THE PANTS...

Perfect...

All Assembled...Looking Good...

Step 5: CUT 1 inch wide ELASTIC to Fit Your Waist...

Elastic (1 inch)…Amazon LINK.

Step 6: With a Safety Pin clipped to one end of the elastic, Ease the Elastic through the Waistband...

Step 7: SEW the ends of the Elastic Together. Slip the elastic ends into the waistband.

Step 8: How to ADD LENGTH to the Pants...DOUBLE-FOLD BIAS TAPE!

Double-Fold Bias Tape...Amazon LINK.

At the HEM, Place Double-Fold Bias Tape...the TAPE will add a bit of length and it will dress up and professionally finish the garment...

MY ONE MISTAKE...I measured the Bias Tape...Even Added a bit Extra...and CUT 2 pieces for each leg...then I began to sew the Bias Tape to the hem...

WHOOPS...The Bias Tape pieces were TOO SHORT...UGH!

MIND THE GAP...INCHES FROM A CLEAN GET-AWAY...

BUT...THANKFULLY, ADDING AN EXTRA PIECE OF BIAS TAPE TO CLOSE THE GAP LOOKS SEAMLESS WHEN SEWN IN PLACE...

NOTE: LEAVE THE BIAS TAPE ON THE ROLL...SEW THE TRIM TO THE HEM AND CUT THE BIAS TAPE OFF THE ROLL WHEN YOU COMPLETELY COVER THE HEM!

DONE!!!

Fun and Easy to Wear Palazzo Plants from FABRIC SCRAPS...

Perfect to Dress Up or Down...

Cost of Pants...$0.

LOVE THE MAGIC!!
