Hey guys! I'm so excited to share this voluminous ponytail hair hack with y'all.

If you’re looking for a fuller ponytail, then this hack is for you. Let’s get started with creating the perfect ponytail!

Tools and materials:

  • Ponytail holder
Regular ponytail

1. Make a regular ponytail

Start by collecting your hair into a regular ponytail.

You can see that at this point it looks flat, but we’re going to change that!

2. Undo part of the ponytail holder and section the hair

Undo the last twist of the ponytail.

Tying hair

Twist the loose part of the elastic around your finger and then split your ponytail into two sections.

Splitting ponytail

You should have a top and a bottom section of hair.

3. Tie the elastic

Now, tie the elastic around the bottom section of hair. This is what's going to give the added volume.

At this point, you should be left with just the top section of hair loose.

4. Tighten and flip

Tighten the bottom section by pulling the hair at the elastic to either side.

Flipping top section over

Then flip the top section over.

Look at all that volume! Can you believe we achieved this voluminous ponytail without teasing the hair or using any tools or extensions!?

So… you mean that the top-sectioned hair is not secured. Half of your hair is lying on top of your banded pony - and it is going to courteously stay that way, looking as tho it is still banded, no matter wind, etc? Really, why we have ponies is to control the hair, right? And when we leave our hair loose, it is because it looks and acts great that day - and so does the weather. (Of course, this only happens on those occasions when we are headed to get it all chopped off.) My hair would droop around the secured pony and just lie about my shoulders - that is, before it took over North America after a secret pact with Putin. (Great hack for those with your great lovely hair tho dear🥰🥰🥰. Seriously not intending to be rude. Just wondering if I’m missing something. Except the wig I’m about to trade for years of smack-down dealing with fiberglass up-top)

Watch the video again. I don’t have a dog in this fight but the entire ponytail is clearly secured. You only undo the last loop and loop it around the bottom half instead of the whole ponytail. And tighten. Adds a bit of lift to the already secured top section.

Sorry but these directions are kind of confusing. I think what is trying to be done here I've seen done much simpler. Pull your hair up like you're going to put it into a pony. Now section it atop and a bottom. Put the top section into a pony holder. Now gather up the bottom section up to and including the top pony. Then put another pony holder around the top pony and the hair that you have gathered up. I hope that helps to clarify.
