We all have a favorite pair of earrings that we can’t wear anymore because the post has broken off.

Here’s a quick fix jewelry hack for your earrings, so you won’t have to say goodbye to those broken ones anymore!

Bonus: You can recycle some of your single earrings that you haven’t been able to wear anyway.

Tools and materials:

  • Old, unwanted stud earring
  • Glue
Broken earring

1. Don’t despair!

Oh no! The post has broken off the back of your favorite earring! Don’t despair, you can fix this!

Unwanted stud earring

2.  Recycle an unwanted stud earring

Grab an old stud earring, maybe one of those singles taking up room in your jewelry box.

Earring post

Remove the front of the stud earring so you just have the post to reuse.

Repairing earring

3. Earring repair from the front

Stick the post through your broken earring from front to back, through any gap near the top of the earring, close to where the broken post was.

You’ll want to position it so your repair is roughly in the same spot as the post on the unbroken earring.

Fixed earring

Ta-da – your earring is fixed!

The flat part of the post is barely visible on the front of your earring, but there’s no way it will break off again.

Repairing earring from back

4. Earring repair from the back

If you don’t want the flat part of the post visible at all, then you can simply glue it in place to the back of your broken earring.
