DIY Disco Butterfly Wings to Add to Your Heels
Hey everyone, I'm so excited to show you how I created these amazing disco butterfly heels.
I've been inspired by some of my favorite creators, so I decided to put my own spin on this project. Let's get started!
Tools and materials:
- Cricut machine
- Exacto knife
- Glue
- Awl tool
- Brad fasteners
- Optional: Crafting mat
- Canvas material
- Holographic cardboard
- Self-adhesive disco strips
- Butterfly patterns
- Pair of heels
1. Design the butterfly patterns
The first thing I did was draw these beautiful butterfly patterns.
I used my Cricut machine to cut them out. You can choose any design you like, so get creative!
2. Cut disco tiles
To give your butterflies a disco vibe, cut strips of disco tiles using an Exacto knife.
3. Assemble the wings
Attach the self-adhesive disco strips to the inside cardboard layer of your wings.
Glue the cardboard layer onto the base canvas layer.
Then, glue the detailed butterfly wing layer on top of that.
Repeat these steps for all four wings. They'll be attached to the back of each heel.
4. Prepare the heels
To attach the wings, you need to prepare the heels. I used an awl tool to poke six holes in the back of each heel.
Don't worry, we'll cover up the inside later.
5. Attach the wings
Use brad clips to secure the wings to the heels through the center flaps of the wings.
Two inner flaps of each butterfly will share the same brad clip for stability.
